What we do

Inside-Out Detroit – We hosted a class of young Detroit poets from Inside-Out Detroit, a nonprofit group that fosters literary arts among Detroit youth. We started the class by asking them to write poems that began with “What if…?” Our instructor, Bryan Baker, then taught them the basics of typesetting, like how to work with movable type, linoleum cuts and ornaments. Soon, their poems were made into pieces of art as their words ran through ink on our cylinder presses.
